SR-22 Landscape Concepts and Aesthetics

Much of the vegetation along the freeway have been removed to accommodate the widening. Trees, shrubs, vines, and groundcover will be replanted in many areas, such as freeway interchanges and on & off ramps. Planting will begin towards the end of construction and take at least a year to complete. Besides landscaping, the corridor structures- soundwalls, retaining walls and bridges, will be aesthetically pleasing with orange images on pilasters and city logos on bridges.
